In order to produce a schedule using the GAME GENERATOR you need to do the following steps prior.
1. Create TEAMS for your league. (CURLING CLUB ADMIN-> TEAMS)
- Place each player in your league on a team.
2. Create ROUND(s) for your league. (CURLING CLUB ADMIN-> ROUNDS)
- Rounds are a grouping of games. Typically each round equates to one round robin. For example most leagues would have round 1 (Fall), round 2 (Winter), & round 3 (Spring).
3. Create DIVISION(s) for your league. (CURLING CLUB ADMIN-> DIVISIONS)
- Divisions are a grouping of teams. Fun leagues would typically not use this and only have one large division. In this case only one division needs to be created. (ex: Division A). For more competitive leagues, you may want groups of teams to play each other in the schedule. In this case, you would create multiple divisions. (ex: Division A, B, C, D)
After these items have been created, you can then generate games.
Go to CURLING CLUB ADMIN-> GAMES.
Select your league.
Click the GENERATE GAMES button near the top.
1. Select the ROUND from the dropdown list.
2. Move all teams into the correct division(s).
3. Select the sheets of ICE that you want to use for this league.
4. Select the days of week that the league plays.
5. Enter the draw times (24 hr format).
6. Enter the start date that you want the first game on.
7. If required, enter any dates that you want to skip over in the schedule (ex: holidays, etc.)
8. Select the number of round robin cycles that you want to schedule.
9. Select the schedule type.
- Random = teams can be scheduled at any draw time randomly.
- Alternating = teams will be alternated through the draw times as evenly as possible.
- Weighted Early = the schedule will fill early draw times first.
- Weighted Late = the schedule will fill later draw times first.
10. Show game against "Nobody" when there is a bye? This is generally set to TRUE so that a team will see in the schedule that they have a BYE game. If set to false, no game is scheduled at all and the team will see nothing in their schedule the week that they have a BYE game.
11. Click the PREVIEW GAME SCHEDULE button.
A listing of generated games will appear. The first table shows how many games each team was assigned for each draw time you entered. It also shows how many games on each sheet of ice was assigned for each team.
It also shows each game date/times generated.
The PREVIEW GAME SCHEDULE button can be clicked multiple times to view different schedule generations. It is randomized math, so the results can look different each time in terms of who plays who.
12. If this schedule is workable, you click the COMMIT GAME SCHEDULE button to have the games added to the schedule.
Any game in the list of games can be manually updated. (ex: change draw time for specific team, etc).
